Revoluton Arts Announces Asma Hussain as New Board Chair.
Revoluton Arts is excited to announce Asma Hussain as its new Chair of Trustees, signalling an ambitious next chapter for the Luton-based arts charity.
Born and raised in Luton, Asma brings senior leadership and fundraising experience from tiata fahodzi and the Royal Opera House. Currently undertaking a PhD in Human Geography at the University of Sussex, her research into Luton’s creative diversity closely reflects Revoluton Arts’ mission.
Reflecting on her new role as Board Chair, Asma Hussain said:
“I am honoured to take on the role of Chair for Revoluton Arts and beyond privileged to be working with my fellow Trustees, Lindsey and the team to continue to bring bold, creative programming to Luton, and to showcase the world-class creativity in our town to the world”.
Asma’s belief in creativity as a driver of social change lends to her support of Revoluton Arts’ next phase of locally rooted, globally connected work that centres equity, access, ambition and shared leadership.
Outgoing Founding Chair, Matthew Jones, said:
“After 6 years as Chair and with Revoluton Arts so strongly positioned as a leader of the arts in Luton, now is a good time to step down and handover to someone who so fully embodies the positive values and culture of the town. I am delighted to welcome Asma Hussain as our new Chair. Asma will be an exceptional leader of Revoluton’s Board as we move into the next exciting year of groundbreaking projects and deepening relationships across Luton’s communities and beyond”.
Lindsey Pugh, CEO and Creative Director, Revoluton Arts, said:
“It’s an honour to be working alongside Asma in this next exciting chapter for Revoluton Arts. Her experience and insight as a proud Lutonian and outstanding arts professional is hugely valued by the team. Asma’s commitment to positive social change for Luton and its people, within a local global context, makes her a powerful partner in driving forward our mission.”
Asma’s appointment comes at a time of organisational momentum, following Revoluton’s recent successes in securing significant multi-year funding over the next four years. Connecting communities through creativity, locally and globally, the organisation is gearing up to provide Lutonians and their allies the opportunity to shape, create and lead artistic experiences that reflect the town’s unique energy and diversity, producing bold new work in Luton and beyond.
