DUNDU Giants of Light 'Lighting Up Luton' 2022

This October we present DUNDU: Giants of Light 'Lighting up Luton.' This large-scale, after-dark live event for all the family invites Luton’s communities to join DUNDU, a giant illuminated puppet, on a spectacular parade through the town.

DUNDU, which means You and You (or Du und Du), is a gentle giant that has enthralled audiences worldwide, bringing a sense of wonder, togetherness and joy wherever it goes. In Luton it will be joined by audiences, dancers, musicians and skilled puppeteers in a large-scale live ‘Lighting up Luton’ outdoor event for all the family.

The after-dark parade on Thursday 20 October 2022 begins at 19:00 in Bury Park, on Kenilworth road, and ends with a finale performance interacting with crowds and community performers in St George’s Square. The event closes at 21:00. Audiences are invited to join DUNDU on the walk through the town. Audiences can get creative too, by making their own lantern to carry on the parade and there are co-creation commission opportunities for local creatives and performers. There are also volunteering opportunities available. You can find more information about related opportunities on our DUNDU: Giants of Light 'Lighting Up Luton' opportunities page.
