Craft of Writing for Performance (Justice 39 workshop) - Marsh House

We are looking for Lutonians aged 16 to 30 to share their experiences of social injustice and ideas about what they would stand up for to help inspire the stories in a big outdoor performance in Luton - ‘Justice 39’.

This is your chance to speak out, be heard and have your story transformed into a public performance by a team of professional writers.

What is Justice 39?

Justice 39 is a BIG outdoor performance project that will tell young Lutonians’ stories about what they would stand up for.

It will be created by young people working with a first-class director, producer and team of writers.

The final piece will be performed by young people themselves in Luton town centre this summer.

Justice 39 is part of a programme of creative events happening in Luton this summer called ‘People Power Passion’. Revoluton Arts has co-commissioned this young people’s performance project with Luton Council.

Justice 39 will be performed in St George’s Square this August and will include:

  • A giant artwork on the front of Luton Central Library
  • Augmented reality elements
  • Live performances

Like all the People Power Passion events, Justice 39 will be inspired by the events of Luton’s 1919 Peace Day Riots. A hundred years ago, 39 young people were arrested for standing up for themselves. Now, in 2019, Luton’s young people will explore the question: Has anything changed?

Justice 39 will be created under the expert guidance of leading director Marcus Romer, producer Simon Poulter, as well as a team of exceptional writers. (Read more about the team here.)
