Is this for me?

For anyone with an interest in the River Lea and the history of activism and music-subcultures, whether or not they have a personal connection or story to share.

Info

Discover the Undercurrent of the River Lea and its heritage of activism and music sub-cultures.

This event will spotlight untold histories and showcase artistic responses to the oral histories we have collected along the river from Luton to London.

From neolithic beginnings to Blockers’ Seaside, punk gigs to rave collectives, the River Lea has been a constant source of inspiration for Luton and beyond.

We invite you to explore an exhibition of artistic responses to the oral histories we have documented along the river from Luton to London. Over the next 18 months, these emerging ideas will inspire and inform a creative programme, including exciting new commissions and co-creation with communities along the river.

You can expect:

  • Filmed Oral Histories
  • Digital work from Young Content Creators
  • An audio trail from Creative Heritage Practitioner Shemiza Rashid
  • Photography exhibition by Creative Heritage Practitioner Rebecca Lily
  • Unveiling of Make Your Mark ceramic mural, by Revoluton Associate Snail Adams

Come, experience the rich heritage of the River Lea and it’s historical undercurrent.
