In this workshop, you will learn the basics in writing lyrics and the theory behind flows, punchline, rhyming and rhyme schemes. Writing stories and being able to get a point across while sounding good is an important part of rap. All it takes is a little bit of perspective, to be able to think outside the box and alter how you think of rhyming words together. Passive will help you understand the fundamentals in writing good raps and be able to walk away with enough knowledge to write and progress at home.

You will use studio equipment so that you can experience what it's like to record your own song/rap with a microphone.

Passive is a multi talented producer, writer , studio engineer and DJ, with over 5 years of writing experience and 3 years production and studio experience.

Thursday 11th August – Singing, Song-writing and Vocal Recording with LDEEA

The workshop will focus on key vocal warm ups, understanding the voice and its anatomy. How to find your unique voice, with an emphasis on ‘having fun whilst singing’, removing barriers that may be stifling creativity. It will also cover the importance of ‘Vocal Signatures’ and how they are used by different artists and within various genres. Participants will create their own, adding to their originality as singers.

Further, participants will also engage in a songwriting activity that aims to expand creative thinking, taking concepts on an interesting journey and stretching the original meaning. They will also learn how to record their own vocal and the components included in a basic home studio set up. This specific set up was very helpful during lockdown and is very useful to singers, enabling them to record their vocal at anytime in the comfort of their home.

A fun day of games and team work, learning how to quickly develop ideas together!

Have you ever wanted to put your ideas on stage? Have you got stories that you want to tell? Do you want to find like-minded people to learn with? If the answer is yes, then this workshop is for you! Using various games and exercises, we will explore how to best work as a team, how to discover what stories matter to you, and how to explore an idea on stage. No previous experience is required, just a willingness to listen, to explore, and to have fun! If there is anything in particular that people want to explore or learn more about in this workshop, then there is also potential to tailor the workshop to those needs. This workshop will be run by Tiarnan Doherty, a professionally trained actor from Luton with previous workshop experience.
