Introducing the 2025–26 Revoluton Associates: Creative Changemakers for Luton’s Future.

We’re thrilled to introduce our new cohort of Revoluton Associates—three visionary artists whose work will spark connection, creativity and transformation across Luton’s neighbourhoods. From community-written audio dramas to linguistic heritage and creative futures imagined by children, this year’s Associates bring bold ideas rooted in local stories. Their projects will run from 2025 to March 2026, each one shaped through deep collaboration with the communities at their heart.

Meet the artists leading this exciting new chapter.

Cheryl Prince — SPEAK LOW, RISE HIGH.

With Speak Low, Rise High, theatre-maker and Luton native Cheryl Prince breathes new life into the working-class languages that shaped her childhood. Inspired by Canting—a pre-Cockney, poetic slang passed down through her own grandparents—her project celebrates rebellious, rhythmic, often overlooked forms of expression. Through community-rooted creative exploration, Cheryl aims to empower local voices and preserve Luton’s linguistic heritage in ways that are soulful, contemporary and joyfully defiant.

Cheryl is a performer, writer, producer, healer and founder of 5D Theatre. Her debut play, AWAKEN, was created with support from Arts Council England, Park Theatre, The Actors Temple and Beacon Arts Centre. In 2025, she produced UNTOLD STORIES at Bread & Roses Theatre, premiering her second play AI ANGEL. As a core member of Seemia Theatre and a graduate of the Bedford Producers’ Hub, Cheryl’s practice blends physical theatre, spirituality, activism and community-building—fuelled by her belief in storytelling as social change.

Her work is steeped in magical realism and dedicated to social change. It champions underrepresented stories. With a decade of experience in devising, physical theatre and community-building, she cultivates creative spaces where wellbeing, collaboration and spiritual awareness are central.

Josh Lewis — Creative Futures with Leagrave Primary Communities

Producer, writer, and musical director Josh Lewis is developing a new project that invites primary-aged students in Leagrave to imagine their community five years from now. Working closely with teachers and residents through Creative Assemblies, Josh will co-design creative workshops where children explore their hopes for the future through performance, songwriting, poetry and visual art. Their work will be shared back with the wider community—turning children’s ideas into catalysts for local conversation and change.

Josh is the founder of Cracking Slate and a graduate of Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’s Writing for Performance BA, following earlier performance training at Sylvia Young Theatre School and Italia Conti.

His background as a producer, musical director and writer informs his passion for child-led creativity that is both expressive and transformative. Josh brings eight years of experience working with young people. His practice centres empowerment—helping children become the directors of their own stories and giving their imaginations a platform to shape their environment.

Shemiza Rashid — Echoes from Dallow: Community Voices On Air

Shemiza Rashid’s project, Echoes from Dallow, invites the Dallow community to step into the spotlight through a series of three community-written, 15-minute audio plays. Rooted in workshops shaped by local voices, the project amplifies everyday experiences while nurturing creative confidence. Produced by Shemiza herself, the work celebrates the power of people telling their own stories in their own words.

An award-winning creative and cultural producer, Shemiza brings three decades of community arts experience across television, theatre, film and radio. As a broadcaster, poet, writer, facilitator and founder of Autonomy Audio Arts, she merges craft with care—championing storytelling that reflects, inspires and belongs to the communities she serves. Echoes from Dallow continues this mission—centering local experiences and transforming them into high-quality creative work.
